The Encounter

Had just finished shooting a commercial job on the beach when a pod of dolphins swam past. Had my camera already in the water housing, so I grabbed a soft top board from manly surf school and paddled after them.

Every time I got close, jumped off my board and swam under they would disappear. This chase went on for a while. By now we were pretty far out to sea and they could probably sense my fear being solo in deep water.

I decided to calm down just follow them for a while. Once I got myself relaxed, I swam down off my board and opened my eyes to take a shot, I locked eyes with this guy, while about a dozen circled me.

Cool nature teaching moment, somewhere between North Steyne Beach and Queenscliff Bombie.
